Music to Measure By

My guitar, after her makeover
Have you ever found yourself in the kitchen- brow furrowed, eyes focusing on the distance, knees half bent, one arm reaching toward the sky, and the other - holding a spatula to your mouth as a microphone while you serenade your ingredients? If this image of yourself comes easily to mind, overheating from the burners, the oven, and all of your hard work (or is it your star quality?)- then this post may be of some interest to you.

Music is as much a part of my life as food is. For this reason, I feel I should share with you a kitchen playlist of sorts. Every week or two, I will give you the latest playlist sounding in my ears. May it give you something new (or familiar) to soak up as you putter through the market or twirl around your kitchen. On this chilly Saturday morning, these songs have brought some warmth into my day:

1. Noah and the Whale - Five Years Time
2. White Stripes - We Are Gonna Be Friends
3. The Wooden Sky - The Late King Henry
4. Cuff the Duke - Belgium or Peru
5. The New Pornographers - Electric Version
6. The Coasters - Smokey Joe's Cafe
7. Beck - Think I'm In Love
8. Wreckless Eric - Whole Wide World
9. Newton Faulkner - Gone in the Morning
10. Basia Bulat - Before I Knew
11. Modest Mouse - Missed the Boat
12. Manu Chao - Me Gustas Tu
